There are numerous databases where you can find details about the service and details of Australians who fought in the First World War. This includes the original service records of the soldiers which have been digitised and are available for free online at the Australian National Archives. However, understanding these records, with their military abbreviations and jargon is not easy, even for those who have had previous military service! The database and ditigitised records can give you basic information like a person's name, number and enlistment date but they do not explain nor tell the story of the individual. The service record usually contains a limited number of entries and from this you will not always know where they served, fought, nor the circumstances of their death.
Here, at We Will Remember Them we have the experience and expertise to carry out the research, by gathering and interpreting all of the available information allowing us to supply you with a easy to understand report that details a soldier’s military service. The size of the report will be dependent on what information is available, however we go beyond that in the report and will include maps of the battles and places where the soldier fought or served. The report will also provide references to all of the information that we sourced and include a copy of the soldier’s original service record. In the case of a soldier who was killed in action, or died of wounds, details of the cemetery or memorial where they are commemorated will also be included.
